2018 WEDDING FAVORITES

We captured lots of unforgettable moments in 2018… big ones, little ones, romantic ones, serious ones, funny ones, and lots of in between moments when no one realized we were watching. It’s basically impossible to narrow it down to a small set of favorites, but below are a few of mine! And if I had to do it over again tomorrow, I might choose completely different images. But today I was focused on the moments… with a few pretty scenes and timeless portraits mixed in there. Which is pretty appropriate since that’s exactly how I’d describe my style of photography 🙂

BLAINE & SARAH

Blaine and Sarah’s wedding day was our last wedding of 2018! Technically, their wedding day is September 15th- the day they were originally planning to get married at Tredegar Iron Works. But Hurricane Florence rolled through Richmond that week and forced them to rethink their plans. Instead of asking so many of their out of town guests to travel in the terrible weather, they decided to postpone their celebration and just have a small ceremony that day. But two months later, a change in venue, and lots of replanning by Jennings Whiteway and her amazing team at Belles & Whistles, they finally got to have the celebration they always wanted… below are a few of our favorites from the day!

Introducing Mr. and Mrs. Harrison!

We were so excited and honored to be able to be a part of this wedding! We’ve been friends with Jon and his family for the past 15 years- sharing way too many beers tailgating and cheering on the Hokies at VT football games. One day he introduced us to a girl named Alissa- a girl who immediately made us feel like we’ve been friends with her as long as we’ve known Jon. As individuals, these two radiate warmth, love, humor, and happiness. Together, those qualities are all magnified. And based on all of the sweet, funny, sentimental, and heartfelt things their friends and family said about them on their wedding day, I know there are a lot of people who believe in this marriage and will be there to love and support them in the years to come… Travis and I included!

JAKE & KATHERINE

A few of my favorites from Jake and Katherine’s wedding day! I can’t say too much about this day because I had complete laryngitis while I was photographing it- ha 🙂 But really, a huge thank you to these two and their friends/family for being so patient with me, and a huge thank you to Travis for speaking for me and directing most of the day. Though this day really needed very little direction- they planned such an easy, laid back, warm, and welcoming celebration. The whole day just revolved around spending time with and connecting all of their favorite people (and their dog, Ginny!). We were honored to be a part of it!

What can I say about this day that Brielle’s Mom, Marie (Owner/Designer at Headpiece.com), hasn’t already expressed in her monthly blog series, other than, it was such an honor to work with all of these amazing people. They really poured their hearts into creating a elegant and timeless celebration, with some of the most unique and creative details that perfectly reflected Brielle and Alex’s personalities. Start with a beautifully preserved family-owned historic plantation, complete with a tree lined driveway and a large working farm… add in a pre-ceremony cocktail hour, a warm Fall day, some vintage cars, a laid back ceremony, a quick thunderstorm, delicious bbq, an energetic band that kept everyone onto the dance floor the ENTIRE night, the sweetest family, and two warm and funny people who are clearly a perfect fit for one another… and you have Casey and Jillian’s wedding day! Keswick Plantation has so many memories for the Keck family and we were so happy to have the honor of capturing one more for them!
