From Heidi’s gorgeous custom made marigold dress, to the appearance of the one and only Gelati Celesti ice cream truck (Tom’s family’s business), to the South African floral inspiration (a nod to Heidi’s childhood upbringing), to the amazing paper flower wall at their reception (created by Tom’s mother)… Tom and Heidi’s wedding day was anything but ordinary, and was visually STUNNING! Allison and Ben’s wedding day included two of the best pups, Charlottesville mountain views, classic stylish details, one of my favorite families, and lots of longtime friends who have become their family. Lee and Monica’s Richmond wedding took place at two of downtown’s most iconic locations- the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart and the Omni Hotel– but this wedding was anything but the norm! Along with Mirna of Brousseau Events, they planned basically the perfect day- a blending of traditions from different cultures, classic style, and all of their RVA faves.

Up until the day of their wedding, they were predicting storms, so we were prepared with umbrellas… but luckily the only rain we saw came during the ceremony where everyone was dry and comfortable in the stunning Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. After a few portraits, we hopped on the trolley for a mini tour of Richmond, stopped by Charm School for some photos in front one of the best Richmond murals, and then headed to Libby Hill Park where Monica got the BEST surprise from Lee- an appearance from their best friend, Cash.

After a photo break with King of Pops, we were dropped off at the Omni, where the reception space was beautifully decorated and where their friends and family were waiting to celebrate… also where Erick of My Fellow DJ (a club DJ turned wedding DJ) won us over with the Wu Tang instrumental that kicked off dinner. The rest of the night was a mixture of sentimental toasts, traditional dancing, slow motion photo booth modeling (check that out here!), and an all out dance party.

The beginning of Spring is getting me excited for all of our upcoming weddings this year! But there is still so much I haven’t shared from last year… including this gorgeous Dover Hall Estate wedding from last May. Nadine and Dave are so much fun and have amazing taste (I’m still so in love with Nadine’s dress), the weather couldn’t have been more perfect, and the Kim Moody Design team created some of the most stunning decor. Reeeeally wouldn’t mind doing this day over again…

Brielle’s Bridal Portrait session at Tuckahoe Plantation incorporated so many stunning one-of-a-kind details. Partially because Brielle has amazing taste, and partially because Brielle’s mother, Marie Hunt of Headpiece.com, was the amazingly talented designer behind her gorgeous veil and accessories. Based out of New Jersey, but working with brides worldwide, Marie has designed unique pieces for thousands of brides… but I know this one was extra special! A few of my favorites below…

In no particular order, a few favorites from Gianna and Jeremy’s wedding day one year ago today!

JACK & AMANDA

In January, you never really know what kind of weather you’ll have in Virginia, but the stars aligned for Jack and Amanda… in between a rainy Friday and a snowy Sunday was the most beautiful crisp winter day in Charlottesville. Jack and Amanda’s heartfelt ceremony at UVA Chapel was topped by a rockin’ celebration at the beautiful Early Mountain Vineyards. An amazing team of vendors, led by Lindsay Kennedy of LK Events & Design created such a warm and memorable day- everything from the one of a kind invitations, to the gorgeous candlelit florals, to the shared family style entrees. Everything was thoughtful, cozy, welcoming, and personal to who they are as a couple… including a nod to their favorite pup Quinn (check out their cake below!), and a cameo by the groom and his band, Three Sheets to the Wind, who borrowed the mic at the end of the night to play a few of their favorite songs. Needless to say, it was the perfect start to our year…
